INDEX Design Awards
The INDEX Design Awards celebrates innovative interiors projects, the agencies and the people behind them. Open to interior design, architecture and fit-out firms and exceptional out-of-the-box leaders within the design community.
It is the central networking event of Middle East Design & Hospitality Week, bringing 350 leaders of the regional design community together to celebrate the most creative and effective work delivered during 2020.
The award entries will be subject to a completely unbiased and transparent process of selection, analysis and voting during the months leading into the event by an external and independent team of leading industry practitioners.
Pick from 17 categories featuring a mix of project, company and individual awards.
Interior design companies with an office based in the GCC employing 15 or more permanent staff.
Interior design companies with an office based in the GCC employing 15 or fewer permanent staff.
Fit-out contractors with an office based in the GCC.
Hotels, resorts and hotel apartments in the GCC.
Apartments, villas, palaces or other types of home.
Any establishment in the GCC which serves food and beverages, most obviously restaurants, bars or cafes.
Stores, boutiques, showrooms, salons, malls and other retail venues.
Offices and other non-residential workplaces
Any completed interior project that has notable sustainability credentials.
Any fit-out project completed within a commercial, residential or hospitality establishment, building or development.
Hospitals, medical facilities / clinics and other therapeutic environments.
Lighting design in any type of interior environment.
Hotels, resorts and hotel apartments outside of the GCC.
Any establishment outside of the GCC which serves food and beverages, most obviously restaurants, bars or cafes.
Any redesigned and refurbished whole or part of a commercial, residential or hospitality establishment, building or development.
Young designers who have worked in the profession for two to five years.
Founders, CEOs / MDs / Directors or equivalent.

Celebrate the hard work of your team members and the projects you’ve worked on together – awards are a great way of recognizing the talents and achievements of your hard work and skills.
A great way to see how you are performing against your competitors is to look at the awards that you each have won. Benchmark yourself against your rivals. If they have won more than you, make this the year to beat them.

There’s no better way of getting publicity than for being excellent. Entering the awards is the perfect way to market your projects, be seen by a wider public and be known for what it is that you do.
HOW TO ENTER?
All entries need to be submitted online. Choose category or categories you'd like to enter.
REVIEW ENTRY CRITERIA
Review the entry information required for the chosen categories.
Complete the entry form online and upload all required documentation.
Submit your entry fee payment online. All entries need to be submitted by 28th February.
Your entry will be evaluated against the criteria set out during the online process and in the entry guidelines document: download here. Please pay careful attention to these, keeping your submission clear, factual and to-the-point and concisely addressing the questions that you are being asked to answer.
Your entry must be completed on the event website: www.index-awards.com, adhering to the word and image requirements detailed on the form. The website will begin accepting entries on the 7th January 2021.
You can enter multiple entries for the same category and in as many different categories as you like.
The shortlisting and judging process is structured, ethical and fair. Other than general summaries that may be provided in reference to finalists and winners during the ceremony itself, the judges’ marks are absolutely confidential and absolutely final: no correspondence of any further kind will be entered into with any third party regarding either the shortlisting or the choice of winners.
Awards sponsors cannot enter the category they are sponsoring and judges cannot mark categories that their companies have entered.
No employee of dmg events or their families can enter the awards.
The winners and finalists may state in marketing materials that they are a previous finalist or a winner, but must make it clear which category and the year this was in.
Supporting documentation or promotional materials sent in addition to your entry will be disregarded.
Entries open on the 7th of January 2021. The closing deadline for entries is Sunday the 28th of February. We therefore encourage all potential entrants to submit their entries as soon as possible.
The award shortlist will be published in the week commencing Sunday the 4th of April.
The award ceremony takes place on the second night of INDEX, Tuesday the 1st of June from 7pm until 11pm in a purpose-built arena within the Dubai World Trade Centre featuring entertainment, a complimentary bar and canapes throughout.
The awards are open to all design and fit-out companies and professionals based in the GCC. For further detail on each award, you can download the entry guidelines document for more information.
The timeframe for all awards is from the 1st of January 2020 to the 1st of January 2021. Your company must have been continually in business during this period / your project completed during this period / you were in your current post at the date of submission for the relevant category.
All entries and voting results are kept confidential and will not by shared with the other entrants or any third party.
Unbiased arbitrators will decide upon a shortlist of four finalists per award category.
A panel of leading industry experts will then review shortlisted submissions, scoring them individually with the final winners being decided upon by group vote. Event sponsors are not included in the judging process. Judges will not review entries made by their own organisations or clients, or indeed any other body which may present a potential conflict of interest.
Yes. The fee for the first entry from any organisation for any award category is $175 and includes one complimentary ticket to the ceremony.
All subsequent entries from that organisation for any award category are discounted to $125 and also include one complimentary ticket to the ceremony.
