What excites you the most about the commercial interior design industry across the MENA region?
As a UAE-based company, Décor Establishment is thrilled by the extraordinary growth and innovation within the commercial interior design industry across the MENA region. What excites us the most is the region’s unique ability to blend tradition with modernity. Interior design in the MENA region goes beyond just aesthetics. Designs tell a story that resonates with the region’s rich cultural background while being simultaneously futuristic.
There’s been rapid development in the region’s interior design and architecture fields, including visionary projects in the UAE and KSA, which are setting new standards for the whole world. There’s a growing emphasis on sustainability and the use of eco-friendly materials in MENA, which aligns perfectly with our company’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable wallcoverings, fabrics, and flooring. Being part of this dynamic market drives us to continually seek out new ways to contribute to the region’s evolving design landscape.
What are the biggest industry shifts you’ve noticed across the region this year
At Décor Establishment, we’ve observed several significant shifts and trends in the commercial interior design industry across the MENA region this year. One of the most prominent trends is the growing emphasis on sustainability. Designers and clients are increasingly seeking out eco-friendly materials and sustainable yet aesthetic designs. Another key trend is the fusion of traditional and contemporary design elements. More people are interested in incorporating local cultural motifs into modern interiors.
Technology is also playing a larger role, with digital tools and smart design solutions becoming more integrated into the design process, such as through virtual reality, AI-driven customisation, or advanced material technology. More people also want personalised and custom bespoke interiors.
What are the biggest challenges facing commercial designers and architects right now?
Ensuring sustainability in large projects and staying cost-effective while ensuring durability and aesthetic standards are met, keeping on top of new trends in design and colours, adapting to technological advancements, and coming up with new ways to push creativity boundaries and make visionary projects come to life.
Tell us about the biggest highlights for your business over the past twelve months…
We celebrated our 50th year in the business in 2024 and launched the world’s first germ-killing wallpaper, which is revolutionary for healthcare interior design, schools, other childcare settings, and also in residential projects to create safer and healthier living spaces. We’ve been involved in hotel projects featuring our latest contract wallcoverings collections, luxury residential projects, palaces, and branded residences.
We achieved our highest sales since before COVID-19, allowing us to expand our product range, sales team, and product stock. We also upgraded our website to make it easier than ever for people to browse and find the exact wallcoverings and fabrics they want through the filter-by-colour and filter-by-design options. Additionally, we launched our new home consultation service through our website.
What new products, projects, and innovations can expect to see from Decor Establishment in the coming year?
We are working on hand-embroidered and hand-painted custom wallcoverings, a new range of natural wallcoverings that can be fully customised, contract-grade fire retardant and blackout fabrics, and a new range of high-quality LVT and SPC in a variety of designs to be used in residential and commercial projects.
