This year the hottest designers in the industry are adding dramatic textures and valiant colors to a unique palette. We are moving away from the pastels of previous years and trying something different. 2019 is going to be all about rich, optimistic tones and bold choices, while maintaining a light and airy feel. Here are a few of my favorite trends for this spring:

Rich colors and patterns create memorable statements.

This year, designers and homeowners are embracing the spirit of a colorful environment, but with rich undertones.

Natural earth tone colors, such as shades of olive greens and navy blues, are transitioning into brighter, bolder indigos and emerald greens. The transformed hues provide a welcomed, contrasting energy to softer shades.

Mix and maybe match.

Color palettes married with different metals or light woods offer a unique look and flexibility in style. So, stretch your design muscles with moodier, dynamic arrangements. Pairing a brass or gold finish with a boldly colored wall adds an element of shine to what could otherwise be a cloudier look. Mixing different metals also brings a unique expression to a space. For instance, try combining different types and styles of accent furniture. Gold, brass, and silver can work together nicely to create a charged look with a big statement.

A more natural look.

Texture doesn’t have to stop with extra added details, such as pillows and blankets. A popular trend for this year is choosing sustainable, natural fabrics materials that will be the key to a distinctive look for some of your larger statement pieces. Try incorporating unique fabrics or patterns with bigger pieces in your home, such as a textured leather chair or a beautifully printed rug.

The attraction to the idea of more natural fabrics is a movement in design that celebrates the concept of escape or retreat from the complexities of a modern, high-tech life.

Small statements with big outcomes.

Your space doesn’t have to be ‘a go big or go home’ type of situation. Less, can be more, and that includes decorating your home with minimal decor. The beauty is truly in the details. Delicate touches offer a naturally soothing look. Modern and textured pieces, such as decorative vases act as soft, beautiful statements. Conversely, a boldly patterned pillow resting on a solid-colored couch or blankets and duvets based in deep indigo or grays, support the idea of coziness and comfortability, as well as add a touch of drama to a room.
