Lawton Yarns explores the creative possibilities of wool
When UK-based spinner Lawton Yarns exhibited at this year’s INDEX Dubai, its aim was clear – to convey the benefits of wool to the interior design sector.
From naturally insulating to being easy to clean, the manufacturer believes that wool is the undisputed fibre of choice for flooring, but often experiences a general lack of understanding around its creative possibilities.
With this in mind, it teamed up with renowned trends house Scarlet Opus to create a ‘woolfall’ installation titled Souf Falls. This took inspiration from nature and used textured yarn in vibrant shades of blue and white to create a cascading waterfall effect.
Key pieces of leather furniture by Ronel Jordaan were used alongside to give the effect of ‘rocks’ in the water.
The resulting installation provided a sensory experience for visitors, offering them the chance to explore the woollen yarns up close.
To coincide with the interactive Souf Falls, Lawton Yarns’ product development and quality manager, Helen Latham, gave a seminar at the show about the lesser-known benefits of wool for both residential and commercial interior design.
The global manufacturer has invested heavily in machinery to supply contract furnishers with best-in-class woollen yarns. So, with Dubai being a key market for the hospitality sector, INDEX provided the perfect platform for Lawton Yarns to engage with a vast and relevant visitor base.
