AT INDEX: Absorb yourself in Design for the Senses at the INDEX Design Hub
Split into two parts, the product showcase features an Urban Gallery and is the base for our 2017 Trend Tour.
Home to what will be the UAE's biggest ever real moss wall when set up on-site, the Urban Gallery will immerse visitors in the trends standing out across interiors and design.
The gallery will introduce the more unusual materials and textures from around the world that are finding their way into the hands of designers eager to embrace the new in the quest for both unique design and sustainability.
The space will highlight particular products designed and manufactured to achieve 100% sustainability. Those include a drum table made from salmon skin, a large pasta bowl derived from one million-year-old slate and a pair of sunglasses actually made from real herbs.
With tours conducted by the team from UK trend forecasters Scarlet Opus, the Urban Gallery and its chosen exhibits will explain how each is representative of more widespread design traits, allowing an almost 'Best in Show' rendezvous point for guests looking to discover the highlight trends of the year.
The area's central feature will be its entire length-spanning moss wall - the largest living indoor moss wall to ever be created across the Emirates.
Visitors will be encouraged to get close and understand how the green-theme has shot to prominence in 2017.
INDEX director Samantha Kane-Macdonald said: "Scarlet Opus will bring a design showcase like no other with their exciting plans for the INDEX Design Hub.
"By stopping by, visitors will enjoy a hands-on, trend-exploring, sense-awakening experience that will not only provide invaluable design insight and inspiration, but a genuinely fun way of quite literally getting to grips with the textures and materials leading current interior trends."
