CAIRO NOW! CITY INCOMPLETE
An exhibition focusing on Cairo's diverse and thriving design culture is aiming to stamp a shared identity on the Egyptian capital's most stimulated creative minds.
Cairo Now! City Imcomplete, on display at Dubai Design District as part of Dubai Design Week, is seeking to unite the city's designers by presenting its creative landscape through a pool of work contributed by disconnected urban artists.
Up-cycling, the rejuvenation of old crafts and calligraphy all feature prominently among the work of 60 Cairo based furniture, product and graphic designers, architects, documentary makers research projects whose work is on show.
Together they establish the packed city's design footprint: a vibrant melting pot of young artists working off limited resource, where the living environment is not only frequently the source of their design, but its medium too.
