ABOUT VenkatRao. K
VenkatRao hails from South of India, Andhra Pradesh, when we look at his sculptures closely we see the cultural upbringing and the observation of traditional temple craft of the state strongly influenced his visual imagery.
His sculptures are the amalgamation of both folk and modern representation.
That depicts the Yesterday years traditional folklore stories, drama and today's westernized conceptualized representation.
His pragmatic concerns about social life have inspired him to draw and accept the environmental disasters caused by very human follies as he playfully draws his satire on the ongoing blind stylization of life with reference to techno-modernism.
Venkatrao's angst reaction to the human's savage flaws has miraculously transformed his form into gargoyles; partly human and partly animal form.
His half human half animal Lion form, depicts a docile image of an Lion, as if the magnificent lion is confined to a domesticated dog rather than an magnificent lion.
The materials used resin, ceramic, paper, bamboo and fabric to construct his sculptures.
