REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
The University of Sharjah Fine Art and Design Arts will showcase a zero-waste exhibit featuring furniture pieces created out of recycled materials in collaboration with Bee'ah Waste management.
Beea’h is relying on the next generation of designers to consider innovative alternatives to the mounting waste concerns. The masterpieces’ uniqueness shines not only in their design but also in the process of implementation that brings forth art out of waste. Instead of collecting waste to be sent to Beea’h, students visited the waste site in Sharjah to collect waste material and create furniture that can be used in daily life. The result is a showcase of how waste can be repurposed in interiors with the hopes of encouraging a whole generation to go green and be more sustainable.
These masterpieces are inspired by the local sand dunes of the emirates. The College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) at UOS is committed to promoting sustainable practice throughout its pedagogy and daily operations. To this end, it is leading creative initiatives intended to challenge the interiors community “to creatively adopt the three Rs: to reduce consumption, reuse what still can be used, and recycle waste into a resource for further use".
