A graduate of the Domus Academy in Milan and Kingston University in London, Amyas began his career working with many well respected designers before joining Kinnersley Kent Design in 1999. Amyas is best known for leading the team that redesigned Fortnum & Mason in London’s
Piccadilly and in Japan. He has also worked on new interior concepts for Twinings, P&O Ferries, Waitrose in Dubai and House of Fraser. Currently Amyas is leading the design team for the interior of Fashion Avenue Expansion, Dubai Mall for EMAAR and also the recently opened ALoft Hotel in Al Ain.
Heading up our creative design in the Dubai Studio, Amyas draws on his extensive and diverse experience when approaching each design. His appreciation of contemporary style teamed with subtle classic elements creates timeless design both in commercial retail and more intimate domestic settings. His work at Kinnersley Kent Design allows him to approach each design project with a unique and fresh outlook ensuring a perfectly executed finish to truly fit the client’s wishes and their brand values, true to KKD’s design philosophy. He creates designs that reflect an eclectic personality, and gathers a huge amount of inspiration from his years studying, working and travelling abroad. Some of his favourite projects are designing for Bateel in the Middle East, where he infused the traditional Arabic influences with playful Western touches in the interiors. Also for Bateel, Amyas has recently worked on new brand mission & vision statements and this has been reflected in a refreshed design for the Cafe's, Boutiques and Duty free and included all touch points from packaging, uniforms & menus. Amyas harbours a passion for product design. As a student, Amyas designed a pair of bathroom scales, titled Gravita. The elegant scales sold in outlets such as the Conran Shop and Pompidou Centre. Similarly, Cleto Munari, one of Italy’s most famous designers, invited Amyas to design a goblet for inclusion in his book ’70 goblets by 70 designers’. Published in Domus’ The Corolle d’Autore Collection. Amyas’ hand made blue goblet is heavy and decorative with sensual lines and the air bubbles giving it a sense of richness that is typical for this Murano glass. His work at Kinnersley Kent Design has given him the opportunity to expand his project profile by working with some of the most prolific retailers & developers, he strives to create fusions between heritage and modernity, balanced with influences collected from all over the world.
