Nightlife in Dubai is varied, with many bars and nightclubs open until the small hours. Hotel bars range from sophisticated cocktail lounges to informal Irish pubs and Western-style lounges. Most serve food and feature live music and entertainment.

There are no specific nightlife districts as many of the best bars are in the big tourist hotels, which are situated throughout the city. Many of these are open until 1:00 or 2:00 at night. A cheaper and livelier option is hitting the independent bars that are dotted around town. Happy hours are common, with Thursday and Saturday being the biggest nights for going out. Tuesdays and Sundays are often ’Ladies Nights’, with female revellers receiving free drinks. The legal drinking age is 21. Licensing hours vary greatly, as many of the hotel bars are allowed to open and close whenever they want. Closing time is normally around 1:00 or 2:00.
Hit the dance floor no earlier than midnight to taste Dubai's nightlife at an ever-changing array of glam and glitzy hotel nightclubs. Follow the music to Dubai's mega-clubs on Sheikh Zayed Road and Madinat Jumeirah or find space under the glitter balls at Dubai's clubs at the Hotels on Jumeirah Beach Road. Dubai's nightlife ceases abruptly at 3am and generally stops altogether during the Muslim religious festival of Ramadan. Many clubs are over-25 only. Dress codes for bars are generally relaxed, although some bars and all clubs insist on no jeans, flip flops, trainers or sandals. Ditch your jeans and sandals for the night to ensure you’ll have no problems getting in. A more mellow night out can be had at one of Dubai’s coffee houses, where you can smoke flavoured tobacco from a traditional Shisha pipe.
